Hello and welcome back to The unleashed podcast. I am your host, Kristina Sjolund and I appreciate you tuning in today! I always hope that I bring you some sort of valuable information that you can use throughout your life and your business. Today, I want to talk to you about leadership and team building, and it doesn't matter if you're in network marketing or if you are, maybe you're in corporate America and you have a team of people who you are in charge of. Whether you be a manager, team leader, whatever you, whatever your title may be, really building a team and having leadership and leadership skills, it's across the board. You have to have some sort of leadership skills, but also there's something that's really important that I started thinking about today, and I said, you know what, I want to bring this to you guys. Let me just start out by saying that leadership can be really scary, because if it's not something that you're used to, or maybe you're used to just being the leader of your family, maybe you're used to being the captain of the softball team or something like that when you were younger. But really, leadership, the bottom line comes to communication. Ready to learn more?

SHOW NOTES:
• It took me a really long time to get because I thought if people in my organization aren't working, it's gotta be my fault, it's not your fault. And there's another thing that's called the speed of the leader determines the speed of the team, not necessarily because there are people who are doing things on their time frame, there are people who are more confident than others, but you cannot be responsible for what those other people do. (3:35)
• And this is something that is really, really, really important for you to know. And even in corporate America, same thing, there are people who are comfortable where they're at. Maybe they're at a desk and they are a receptionist and they don't want to do anything more than just that. But then comes a time when they are ready for more, they want to take on more responsibility, they want to grow, they want to advance in their career, and they're going to take steps in order to move forward. (6:10)
• You stay in your own lane, don't worry about what those other people think of you, don't worry about it, because you are advancing in a way that you can, in the way that you're comfortable with. As long as you're doing it legit, as long as you are doing it in a way that you are helping other people grow, you are helping other people develop, that's where you're going to get the respect. (8:33)
• And if somebody doesn't wanna build it, if somebody doesn't want to advance, it doesn't make you a bad leader, it just makes them not ready. Maybe it's not their cup of tea, maybe they're not ready to be a leader, but you can be a leader to them and everybody who is connected to them. (12:17)
• There are leaders who don't want to talk to their team or they talk in a harsh way. They talk in a way that's demeaning, they talk in a way that makes other people feel bad, and they don't want to be part of that organization. They make them want to walk away from it. Why would you want to be part of an organization if you have no support or you've got somebody who's being rude to you? So I try to be the best listener and the best communicator that I possibly can, because that's really important. (16:41)
