Welcome back to The Unleashed Podcast, I'm your host, Kristina Sjolund, and I am so appreciative that you are jumping on with us today. I am so stinking excited and I'm sitting here in my head going, Oh my God, I can't wait for this introduction because... I have somebody here that I know that every single person is most likely going to be able to relate to, and to me, relatability is everything! Relatability creates connections. I'm going to tell you that I connected with this fine lady almost immediately, because if anybody has listened to this podcast for any amount of time, they know that it's a straight talk, it's no BS, and it is straightforward. Sometimes when I read her... when I read her posts, I'm like, Yes. Because she tells it like it is. That's my kind of person. This is my friend, Tanya Morehead. And she's going to tell her story. She describes herself to me as a typical girl growing up overweight, angry, unhappy with herself. I think a lot of women, even men for that matter, have this issue, and she has changed. She's done a complete 180 and has completely changed her mindset, and now she talks to other people, she trains other people, and she helps them with their mindset, with their fitness goals. Without me going any further, let's let Tanya share her story....

SHOW NOTES:
• It was miserable, I would weigh myself every single day and just beat the crap out of myself. Anything that happened, I was a self sabotager, which most of us are. I had major body images, I'm 54, and at 235 pounds, that's a big size for a girl. And it's just like I said, I wouldn't talk to people. I was very negative, which if you know me now, I'm on the polar opposite of that. I was very negative. And my brother is the one who, he opened a gym and he knew how miserable I was, and he said, You know, you really should come in and work out, just super open, and I said, No, no, I'm not getting bulky because every girl thinks that they're going to get bulky, but most people that I train, don't want to be. (3:40)
• I was a girl who just never worked out, I never... Like I said, I couldn't run the mile in high school, I couldn't... I couldn't even do that. And like I said, now I can run a half marathon, I can run... And it's one of the reasons I became a trainer is because the gym truly changed my life. And I feel like the gym is just a tool for me to get to people, to teach them how to really change their way, because anybody can work out, that's why people fall off, because anybody can work out. It goes so much deeper than that. (6:22)
• You build a relationship with somebody and you tell them everything. I mean, you just do. And so I know the perfect time inside of the workout when they're exhausted, they're struggling because they're already broken down and in a vulnerable state, and I'll hit them with a question that is very personal. I've had people cry during workouts like, Why did you do this to me? And they say, I just came here to work out, and I say; No, you didn't come to me for that. (10:00)
• It's life-changing for them, it has been for me as well, because I didn't have that, I didn't have somebody to help me. And so for me, that's why I became a trainer, I'm like, this changed my life. I can help people change their life through fitness, it just happens to be through working now. It's not just the working out, it just happened to be my avenue to help people, like my way of getting to people. (15:03)
• I compare it to taking care of your car. Everybody loves their car. If you don't put gas in your car, what happens? It doesn't run. If you don't give your body healthy foods and exercise for a human body, and I'm not saying go balls out like I do, but I'm saying a human body has certain needs, it just has to have it to thrive. It just needs basic nutrition and basic exercise, and of course, keeping your mind clear and feeding it and doing all those things. The cars the same way, if you don't give it good gas or if we don't change the oil, what happens... It breaks down. (19:27)
