Episode Summary

Welcome back to The unleashed Podcast, I am your host, Kristina Sjolund and I appreciate you taking the time out to listen in today. If you're a first-time listener, I want to welcome you. I hope that I deliver and you want to keep coming back for more each week. If you are a returning listener, I appreciate that you want to come back and you want a little bit of that unleashed attitude, a little bit of stuff that makes you spice up your life, in whatever way that I can bring to you, along with some inspiration. We are in the back to School mode now, right? But this is a little bit different than any other year, isn't it? We're going to kind of change things up just a little bit this week, because whether you are sending your kid back to school, to be going to school in person, or to the dining room, you're probably needing some adjustments. For myself, I've got a split household now, I've have one who will be going to school full-time, and then I have one that is going to be going to school in the dining room. The reason being is that, my youngest, she goes to a private Christian School, and they are actually opening for in-person learning. And then my oldest, is starting as a freshman in high school, and they're doing online learning. Today I what to talk about time management, managing your time to coincide with your kids and your own business, or whatever you do. Listen in…

SHOW NOTES:

•   Time management is probably one of the hardest things, especially for business people. When our kids are learning from home, they're not in school for six hours or seven hours. Whether it's in their room or in the dining room, or wherever you have them set up to be in there doing their online learning, then they're going to be in that area, but it's only going to be for two or three hours a day. It's not spaced out, there's not a PE class, there's not these things where everything is timed out in 40 minutes for a class, and a lot of it is recorded learning. (2:34)

•   So, what I have done is I have looked all over and done my research and found some things that I thought that I would share with you guys. We're going to have to be doing kind of like a double discipline in time. We're going to have to make sure that they are disciplined in their focus, and we're disciplined in ours as well. Because, hey, they're learning for us, you guys, they soak up everything. They are sponges, so we have to be that example. And if we don't discipline ourselves or anything, they're going to see that, and then they're not disciplined in their activities of what they're doing. So, while they're learning, it's time for us to work. (4:26)

•   I've told you guys that I have my gratitude journal. I keep my goals in there, I keep the 10 things each day that I'm thankful and grateful for. These are things that they should be doing on a regular basis, because the most successful people in the world do these things. Let me repeat that. The most successful people in the world keep journals with goals and things that they're grateful for, they start their day with what they're grateful for. (8:26)

•   So, this little garden that sits on my counter, it has a UV light and it's got these little pods with these dirt sponge things and the seeds go in these old dirt sponges, and I can grow whatever I want. So, downstairs on my kitchen counter, right now I have fresh basil. I have fresh thyme. I have fresh parsley. My Cilantro is just not coming up, so I don't know what's wrong with that. I've got Dill. These are things that I can grow in my house, obviously, I'm not going to be growing corn, it's not going to fit on my counter, but I can grow all kinds of herbs. Next, I'm going to throw in some cherry tomatoes in there. (12:45)

•  How many times do you go, 'Oh my God, I can't afford that right now?' I don't want my kids to live like that, I want them to have that emergency fund where they can take care of that, and then they build that emergency fund back up. I want them to save up money for the things that they want, the things that they need. I want them to be able to buy a car. I don't want them to have high interest rates, should they have to finance that car through the bank. If they can learn how to save enough money to pay cash for a car... Let's do it. (25:01)
